Hunter College Summer Arabic Program

Study a year’s worth of Arabic in the heart of New York City this summer in Hunter
College’s intensive Arabic program. Hunter College’s Summer Arabic Program focuses
equally on reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension. The language of
instruction is Modern Standard Arabic, but students will also be exposed to at least one
Arabic dialect. Students will also have the opportunity to benefit from New York’s vast
cultural offerings.

Session I : June 2, 2008 to July 3, 2008: Beginning Arabic I (4 credits) Monday-Thursday,
9:50am-1:00pm (no pre-requisites)

Session II : July 7, 2008 to August 7, 2008: Beginning Arabic II (4 credits) Monday- Thursday, 9:50am-1:00pm (pre-requisite: Beginning Arabic I or equivalent)

**Students who have not studied Arabic at Hunter College and who wish to register for
Beginning Arabic II will be required to meet with the Program Director (Prof. Alexander
Elinson) before the beginning of the summer session in order to establish proper level by
way of a proficiency exam.

Hunter Students will register through the Registrar ’s Office. Other CUNY students will
need an e- permit. Non-CUNY students will apply as non-degree students and should
contact Hunter’s Office of Admissions for more information: (212) 772-4490

all interested students, please note that registration priority will be given in the following
order - Hunter students, non-Hunter CUNY students, non-CUNY students.
