Since its inception in 1994, THE POINT has been a leader in cultivating Hunts Point as a cultural district through establishing program bases in various arts mediums such as Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Music, Photography and Circus Arts.  THE POINT is seeking practicing professional artists who have proven teaching experience with students in grades 1-8. Resident Artists must also possess the ability to plan, implement and assess project-based curricula collaboratively with POINT youth development and arts staff.
For this round of applications, we are seeking artists in the Dance and Theatre disciplines.
Resident Artist Proposals will be reviewed by THE POINT’s youth development team consisting of the Youth Program Coordinator and arts program managers. The team will select the artists with whom they wish to collaborate with for the 2008 after school program year. Upon selection, the artist will work with the Youth Program Coordinator and the appropriate arts managers to design the residency project.Â
THE POINT’s After School Program runs Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and serves approximately 70 children in 1st - 8th grade, primarily from the Hunts Point neighborhood of the South Bronx. Teaching sessions are approximately 4:45 - 5:30 pm and 5:30 - 6:30pm.
A ten-week residency will receive a stipend of $2,000.
