Fresh Meat Art Show

CUNY BA student Raphael Miles is organizing the Fresh Meat Art Show which will be on exhibition at the Gallery at the Brooklyn Artists Gym in Park Slope, 168 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on the 3rd floor, in fabulous Brooklyn NY. The show runs from October 4th through the 12th and the opening reception will be this coming Saturday from 6 until 9. We will have wine, hors d’ouevres, and of course art, as well as live DJ and performances.

“This will be the first New York show for all of the artists exhibiting. What ties us together is a common passion for art. Our show is a meditation on how a younger generation approaches, appreciates and creates art. All of the artists involved in Fresh Meat are native or new members of the New York community. Every generation of artist has a different relationship with art, and each artists involved in this show takes a different approach. What brings us together is our common passion. For some of us art is what makes us feel connected to our communities. For others it offers a means of expressing the isolated nature of being a human being. It offers a different means of communicating ones humanity. And for others still it is about exploring the relationship between art and the cultural institutions that have become the main purveyors and authorities on how to appreciate and relate with ‘art’. It is about having a physical interaction with the pieces,  and how the nature of ones experience changes when traditional boundaries are crossed. I hope that some of you can attend the opening reception, this should be a good show and if nothing else you’ll be supporting a fellow CUNY BA student plus there’s the added bonus that there will be free food and wine.

For more information please email me at freshmeatartshow@gmail.com or you check the brooklyn artists gyms website http://www.brooklynartistsgym.com/ or our myspace page for the event http://www.myspace.com/freshmeatartshow.”
