CUNY Baccalaureate Alumna Wins Fulbright to Teach English in Turkey

Hogai Aryoubi

Congratulations to CUNY Baccalaureate alumna Hogai Aryoubi (B.A., 2013) who received a 2015-16 Fulbright U.S. Student English Teaching Assistantship Award to Turkey. She is one of approximately 1,500 Americans who received grants to study, research or teach abroad with full or partial support from the Fulbright Program.

Born in Afghanistan but raised in the U.S., Aryoubi enrolled in CUNY BA with a dream of connecting art and education. She put this plan into action by pursuing an interdisciplinary concentration in “Anthropology of Cross-Cultural Aesthetics.” After graduating from CUNY BA in June 2013, Aryoubi was a teacher for Teach for America. On May 20, 2015, she will graduate from Johns Hopkins University with an MS in Education.

CUNY BA is the University-wide, individualized degree. It is an exciting, versatile, rewarding degree route for highly motivated, self-directed students whose academic goals transcend traditional majors. Students create their own degree plans working directly with faculty mentors and academic advisors.
