CUNY BA Mentor, Rosalind Petchesky, to give talks

We are please to report that Rosalind Petchesky, Professor of Political Science at Hunter College and a CUNY Baccalaureate faculty mentor will be delivering a lecture later this month (March) at New College, University of Toronto in Canada, sponsored by the Women and Gender Studies (WGS) and Equity Studies Programs; and a keynote lecture at a conference on “Global Flows, Human Rights, Sexual and Reproductive Health: Ethnographies of Institutional Change in the Global South” to be held at the University of Sussex (England) in July.  Her talk is called “Biopolitics at the Crossroads of Sexuality and Disaster” and looks at two case studies, the controversy over the anti-homosexuality bill in Uganda and the recent hurricane and cholera epidemic in Haiti.  This work will also be a chapter in a forthcoming book edited by Ted Schrecker for Ashgate Publishers.
