Please see a following announcement on CUNY Labor Arts Contest:
We are happy to announce the 2016-2017 CUNY/Labor Arts Contest, supported by the Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation.
As you know from past years, the contest invites students to submit writing or art that speaks to labor issues. The contest is open to CUNY undergraduates, and offers cash prizes up to $1,000 in four categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and visual art.
Over the past six years, we have had hundreds of entries from almost every CUNY campus, with winners representing the senior, community, and comprehensive colleges, and first-year students through seniors. The strength and momentum of the contest continue to grow each year.
We are hoping you can continue to help spread the word to both faculty and students. Your office should have received posters announcing the contest, so please post them prominently if you can. An electronic version of the flyer is also attached, so please feel free to distribute as widely as possible within your institution. Thank you!
The deadline for this year’s contest is March 6, 2017, and we appreciate your help in getting the word out now, as many students submit work they completed for their fall classes, and faculty may incorporate the contest into their spring semester syllabi.
