Improving Your Teaching: Applying Adult Learning Theory to the College and Continuing Education Classroom

Many adult educators enter their fields with a wealth of subject matter expertise and quickly find that they also need to better understand the unique needs and learning styles of adults. Join the SPS Off-Campus College’s faculty and staff in a presentation and panel discussion on “Improving Your Teaching: Applying Adult Learning Theory to the College and Continuing Education Classroom.” Together, we will explore how adult learning and development theory and research can support innovative teaching and learning through the design and delivery of education programs in a range of settings, including the college classroom, the workplace, and community-based organizations. College faculty, continuing education instructors, HR and workplace educators, as well as graduate teaching assistants and PhD candidates interested in teaching will benefit from this discussion. The Off-Campus College program, part of CUNY’s School of Professional Studies, has over 25 years of experience in developing courses and certificate programs that exemplify best practices in adult learning.
