Spring 2014 CUNY BA Scholarship Applications- Deadline 2/25 at 5pm

We are now accepting applications for several scholarships. Applications/instructions are available online, and the submission deadline for all scholarships is February 25, 2014 at 5pm, no exceptions. All letters of recommendation must be received by this date as well.

The Thomas W. Smith Academic Fellowship

Thomas W. Smith Academic Fellowships are funded through a donation by Mr. Thomas W. Smith to recognize academic excellence. Awards are renewable each semester as long as the recipient is making sufficient progress toward completing the degree.

The Daniel E. Smith Scholarship for Returning Women

This scholarship was created by a graduate of CUNY Baccalaureate and her husband to encourage and support female students who have returned to college despite personal and financial challenges, and who demonstrate a strong commitment to obtaining their degrees.

The Harriet Brows Scholarship for Social Change

For CUNY Baccalaureate students who are interested in or have already demonstrated a commitment to social change in some form. Work in a social change area exclusive to a college campus will be insufficient to apply for this award; applicants must demonstrate engagement with communities or change work beyond the college environment. Applicants may be part- or full-time students. This is a one-time award.

The Memorial Scholarship for Students in Education or Human Services

For CUNY Baccalaureate students in any Area of Concentration who are preparing for careers in Social Services, Human Services or Education. One Memorial Scholarship will be awarded this Fall.

The Dina Arjani Scholarship for Students Planning Careers in Teaching/Education

This scholarship is for CUNY Baccalaureate students preparing for careers as teachers. Students planning traditional classroom teaching careers will be considered first, but students planning nontraditional careers in teaching or education are also encouraged to apply. Students who re-apply will have to demonstrate accomplishments that exceed those detailed in their original applications.

Steven Suthiana, B.S. 2009, (Psychology of Human Sexuality) is an alumnus of CUNY BA and a former Thomas W. Smith Academic Fellow. Mr. Suthiana has designated a $500 award for a current CUNY BA student whose degree focuses on LGBTQ Studies or who is otherwise working to advance LGBTQ causes.
