The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program

This program is now seeking applicants for its 2010 graduate fellowships. These are excellent opportunities for outstanding students interested in international affairs careers.

The Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship is designed for individuals interested in careers in diplomacy in the U.S. Foreign Service. The fellowship includes 1) up to $34,000 per year for two years toward a graduate degree in international affairs or a related discipline at a U.S. university; 2) paid internships working for a Member of Congress on international affairs issues and at a U.S. Embassy overseas; and 3) entry into the U.S. Foreign Service for those who successfully complete the program. We hope to give 20 fellowships in 2010.

Eligibility criteria for the fellowship include 1) U.S. citizenship; 2) GPA of at least 3.2; and 3) readiness to enter graduate school in fall 2010 for a two-year program. We accept undergraduate seniors and recent grads from colleges and universities all over the United States. There is no specific undergraduate major required, although we often have applicants with backgrounds in Political Science, Foreign Languages, and Economics. Using our fellowship, fellows do their graduate work in international affairs or a related area at schools nationwide. The selection process is very competitive, so we are looking for students with strong academic backgrounds, an interest in international affairs and public service, and a record of community service. Financial need is also considered. The program encourages the application of members of minority groups and those with financial need.
I am attaching information on this programs. Additional information and application materials are available on www.rangelprogram.org.
