Kim J. Hartswick
Academic Director
Kim J. Hartswick was an Associate Professor of Art History and Archaeology at the George Washington University for 22 years before taking on the duties of Academic Director in Summer 2006.
He oversees the student academic program (including the final approvals of all areas of concentrations) as well as a staff of 11 full-time and 1 part-time employees. He is the liaison to The Graduate Center administration and the Faculty University Committee for this unique and interdisciplinary degree program.
Peter Altman
Coordinator of Admissions & Recruitment
Peter has served as Coordinator of Admissions & Recruitment since August 2004. After earning his B.A. at Queens College, he worked as a recruiter at City Tech and Queensborough before joining the program.
Peter oversees all aspects of admissions, from receiving applications to the program, to communicating application decisions, to coordinating information sessions for prospective students and orientation for incoming students.
Jennifer Bradford
Registrar’s Office Assistant
Jennifer joined the Registrar staff in June 2007. She processes transcripts, enters student data, and assists students with general questions.
Jennifer received her Associate’s in Accounting at City Tech and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Brooklyn College.
Khadijah Cole
Recruiter
Khadijah graduated from SUNY University at Albany with a B.A. in Communication and from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism with a Master’s in Journalism. She has worked at both institutions as a graduate and teaching assistant.
As Recruiter for the program, Khadijah provides general information to prospective students, attends transfer/college fairs, assists with information sessions about the Program, helps students through the application process, and assists with data entry of student files.
Analie Cruz
Office Assistant
Analie joined the Program in 2007 and shares responsibilities for scheduling appointments and completing administrative tasks. She was previously Chief Engineer’s Assistant at a nursing rehabilitation center.
Analie holds an Associates in Business Administration from LaGuardia Community College and bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hunter College.
Sarah Fajardo
Coordinator of Scholarships, Alumni and Special Events
Sarah joined the program in July 2011 as Coordinator of Scholarships, Alumni and Special Events. In this role, she coordinates the application, selection, and distribution of the CUNY BA scholarships, and coordinates alumni outreach and activities, as well.
Sarah holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Anthropology and is working towards an M.S. in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from The New School. Before joining CUNY Baccalaureate, she worked for a year and a half as a project coordinator at the Vera Institute of Justice, and for a year as a legal assistant for a small law firm representing police misconduct cases.
Beth G. Kneller
Deputy Director
As Deputy Director, Beth supervises staff, develops policy and procedures, and manages the program’s administration, communications, promotion. and budget.
Beth graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. Magna cum Laude, with majors in English (High Honors) and Philosophy and a minor in Film Studies, and from Teacher’s College/Columbia University with an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration. She has over 25 years of experience in higher education administration; before joining the program in 1995, she worked for The New York Botanical Garden, The New School, and Barnard College.
Kate McPherson
Senior Academic Advisor (D-G, P–Z)
Kate joined the program as a part-time advisor in 2001, became a full-time advisor in 2003 and Senior Academic Advisor in 2007. She conducts admissions interviews, credit checks, graduation audits, and provides guidance to students regarding the program’s degree requirements. In addition, Kate supervises the advising staff and creates and updates all advising materials. She also collaborates on website development.
Kate completed a B.A. and graduate coursework in Anthropology at Hunter College, and teaches as an Adjunct Professor at City Tech in College Now.
Karen Miller
Senior Registrar
Karen serves as Senior Registrar, managing the Registrar’s Office and maintaining academic records of current students and alumni. She has worked in program since 1994 and is a member of the BANNER working group, CUNY Council of Registrars, and the CUNY FIRST meeting group.
Karen holds a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers and an M.A. in Psychology and Ms.Ed. in Psychological Counseling and Rehabilitation from Teacher’s College/Columbia. She’s worked for Hudson County Community College, Long Island University, Fashion Institute of Technology, Drexel Burnham Lambert, and LaGuardia Community College.
Jean Myers
Administrative Assistant
Jean Myers joined the program in late 2008. She serves as the office manager, working closely with the staff to ensure that the many tasks involved in running the program—from admissions to commencement—are performed promptly and efficiently, and that students, staff, and faculty are well-served. In addition to her regular duties, she also makes time to notarize important documents for students, faculty and staff.
Jean holds an M.L.S. degree, and previously worked in the Graduate Center’s Registrar’s Office and Mina Rees Library.
Rafal Szczurowski
Academic Advisor (A-C, H–O)
Rafal joined the program in August 2007 as Academic Advisor. In this role, he conducts admissions interviews, credit checks, graduation audits, and provides guidance to students regarding the program’s degree requirements.
Rafal holds a B.A. from Hunter College and an M.A. in Political Science from The Graduate Center. Before joining CUNY Baccalaureate, he worked for two years as an admissions counselor at CUNY’s Office of Admissions Services.
Ann Marie Doering
Associate Registrar
Ann Marie holds a B.A. in Industrial Psychology and an M.S. in Higher Education Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College. She worked as Assistant Registrar at LaGuardia Community College for three years before joining the program in 1994.
As Associate Registrar, Ann Marie monitors students’ progress toward their degrees, manages registration information, processes e-Permit requests, and oversees data entry of student records.
